At the October ACEC Ohio Board of Directors meeting, the board voted to financially support the ACEC Research Institute at the Chair’s Level of $25,000 divided over three years to assist in achieving the following:

• Identify, fund, and provide industry wide research, forecasts, and trend analysis.
• Capitalize on the rapidly changing nature of technology and society to ensure a sustainable engineering industry.
• Promote the engineering profession’s essential value to society.
• Inspire future generations to solve the world’s most challenging problems through engineering.

The Research Institute was started just over two years ago and hit the ground running with the COVID 19 surveys. Since then, the Institute has released quarterly Engineering Sentiment Reports as well as Economic Contribution of Engineering and Engineering Forecast reports. The topics of Transportation Funding, Qualifications Based Selection and Design Build have all had specific reports released. The most recent report, Design Build State of Practice, was recently cited in a White House Infrastructure Briefing.

The value of the data produced by the Research Institute can be used with our clients, public officials and elected officials which is why the ACEC Ohio Board of Directors voted to support the Institute financially. While the Research Institute is branded with the ACEC name, it is a separate 501(c)(3) entity providing an annual tax deduction. The financial commitment will also give ACEC Ohio certain benefits in engagement, thought leadership and recognition.
